How to use these words

Mislim da… (I think that…) is followed by a full sentence: Mislim da je to dobra ideja.
Slažem se (I agree) and Ne slažem se (I disagree) work in any discussion.
Feelings with mi je: Dosadno mi je (I am bored), Žao mi je (I am sorry).

A little culture

Croatians are direct and enjoy a lively discussion over coffee, about football, politics or the price of everything. Disagreeing openly is normal and rarely taken personally.

Common mistakes

Saying “Ja sam dosadan” for “I am bored”. That means “I am boring”! Say Dosadno mi je.
Forgetting the feminine form: a woman is sretna, tužna, ljuta.
