Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Malingo at malingoapp.com (the “Service”), operated by Malik Al Khrissat (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Malingo is a free educational tool for learning Croatian. We aim to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise any particular learning outcome, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time.

2. Your account

  • You must provide accurate information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not share accounts or create accounts for others.
  • If you are under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union) you may only use the Service with a parent's or guardian's consent.
  • You can delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected].

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to: attempt to access other users' accounts or data; interfere with the Service, its servers or security; use automated tools to scrape, overload or abuse the Service; upload unlawful, offensive or infringing content; or use the Service for anything other than personal, non-commercial language learning.

4. Content and intellectual property

The lessons, vocabulary, exercises, texts, design, code and the Kuna mascot are owned by Malik Al Khrissat and protected by copyright. You may use them for your own learning. You may not copy, redistribute, sell or create derivative works from them without written permission. The public phrase pages may be quoted with a link back to the Service.

Any feedback or suggestions you send us may be used freely to improve the Service.

5. Free plan, advertising and Malingo Plus

The core Service is free and may show advertising. Malingo Plus, an optional paid plan, removes ads and adds features such as unlimited hearts and additional course levels. Its prices are shown clearly before you buy, and the terms in section 6 apply.

6. Malingo Plus: payments, cancellation and refunds

Malingo Plus is an optional paid plan sold through our reseller and merchant of record, Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”). Paddle processes your payment, issues your receipt, charges any applicable VAT or sales tax, and handles refunds. Paddle’s own terms apply to the purchase: Paddle Checkout Buyer Terms.

  • In the Android app, Malingo Plus is sold through Google Play instead. Google processes the payment, issues the receipt and charges any applicable tax, and the Google Play Terms of Service apply to the purchase. Cancel a subscription in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions (or Malingo Plus → Manage in Google Play). Refunds can be requested from Google Play, or from us by email as described below; we issue them through Google Play.
  • Subscriptions (monthly and yearly) renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Malingo Plus → Manage subscription or via the link in your Paddle receipt (app purchases: in Google Play). After cancelling you keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for; no further charges are made.
  • Lifetime is a one-time payment that never renews.
  • 14-day refund guarantee. If Malingo Plus is not what you expected, you may request a full refund within 14 days of a first purchase, a yearly renewal or a lifetime purchase, provided you have not used Plus benefits extensively (for example, completed more than three Plus lessons). This applies in addition to any statutory rights, including the 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers in the European Union.
  • Monthly renewals are refundable within 48 hours of the charge if no Plus lesson was completed in that period.
  • How to request a refund. Email [email protected] from the address on your account with the receipt number, or use the “Request refund” link in your Paddle receipt. Refunds are issued by Paddle to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days.
  • Prices are shown in euro and include VAT where applicable. Paddle may show the price in your local currency at checkout. In the app, Google Play shows the price in your local currency, including tax.

7. Third-party services

Speech recognition and synthesis are provided by your browser and its vendor, and fonts are loaded from Google. These are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

8. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. Language content may contain errors; we welcome corrections. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free service is zero.

9. Termination

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or that have been inactive for a very long time, after reasonable notice where possible. You may stop using the Service at any time.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms; if you do not, please stop using the Service and delete your account.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country give you additional rights.
