About Malingo

Why Croatian, and why from Arabic?

Most language apps teach Croatian only from English, and hardly any teach it from Arabic. Malingo was created to fill that gap: every explanation, translation and example is available in both English and Arabic, and the interface switches to a full right-to-left layout for Arabic speakers.

How it works

• Short lessons. Each lesson takes about five minutes and mixes listening, speaking, matching, word-order and translation exercises.
• Real phrases. The course covers greetings, introductions, numbers, family, food, shopping, transport, home, work, everyday conversation, time and weather, and free time, with more units on the way.
• Motivation built in. Daily goals, streaks, hearts, gems and achievements keep you coming back, and a spaced-review system reminds you of words right before you would forget them.
• Pronunciation. Every word has a pronunciation guide and audio, and speaking exercises let you check yourself with your device's microphone.

Who is behind it

Malingo is created and run by Malik Al Khrissat, an independent developer. It is not affiliated with any language school or government body. The mascot, Kuna, is an original character named after the pine marten that once gave its name to Croatia's currency.
